What we store

• Waitlist: if you join, we store your email address, the place name you typed (optional), and timestamps — in a Cloudflare D1 database. That's the whole record.
• Followed places & preferences: stored only in your browser's local storage. They never leave your device.
• A cached data snapshot: the last events payload is kept in your browser so the map can show clearly-labelled cached data offline.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand overall traffic — visits, page views, referrers, and rough geography. It sets cookies in your browser and shares usage data with Google, which processes it under Google's privacy policy. We use it only for aggregate traffic statistics, not advertising.

What we don't do

• No ad trackers, no fingerprinting, no tracking beyond the analytics described above.
• No selling or sharing of email addresses.
• No storing of raw IP addresses with your signup.
• No account required for anything on the site today.

Third parties

The map loads tiles and data directly from public services: OpenFreeMap, NASA GIBS & FIRMS, USGS, RainViewer, CelesTrak, Open-Meteo (place search), Cloudflare (hosting and the Turnstile anti-bot check on the waitlist form), Google Fonts, Google Analytics, and unpkg (pinned, integrity-checked libraries). Each receives the network requests needed to serve those assets, subject to their own policies.

Removal

Want off the waitlist? Email hello@worldmap.now from the signed-up address and we'll delete the record.

Terms & safety disclaimer

worldmap.now visualizes public near-real-time feeds. Data can be delayed, incomplete, or wrong, and satellite thermal detections are not confirmed wildfires. Never use this site for emergency decisions. Follow your local civil-protection authorities, official tsunami warning centers, and emergency services. The service is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind.
